Law enforcement seizes $100,000 worth of cocaine, meth

KINGS BEACH, Calif. and#8212; A lengthy drug investigation has culminated in the arrest of a 39-year-old Lake Tahoe man and the seizure of about $100,000 worth of illegal drugs.
According to a press release Friday, investigators with the Placer County Sheriffand#8217;s Office conducted a one-year investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and methamphetamine in the Kings Beach area, which came to a close with the Feb. 15 arrest of Kings Beach resident Ramiro Reyes Rivera.
Law enforcement officials said Rivera was found to be in possession of a kilogram of cocaine and#8212; abut 2.2 pounds and#8212; and more than an ounce of methamphetamine.
Rivera was arrested for transportation and possession for sales of cocaine and methamphetamine, said Dena Erwin, spokeswoman for PCSO.
Rivera is currently being held in Placer County Jail on those charges, according to Fridayand#8217;s press release; additionally, Rivera is being held on immigration hold.
PCSO canine, Eyk, was instrumental in locating the large quantity of narcotics, Erwin said.
Riveraand#8217;s next court appearance is Thursday, March 3, Erwin said.
