Law review: Porter’s memo to undecided Presidential voters- Part One
I don’t know where I heard this but here’s the best summary describing undecided voters in the November 5 Presidential Campaign. It mimics the menu choices on an airplane flight: “You have two choices: chicken or spoiled tuna with ground glass, which will you have?” Voter: “How is the chicken cooked?”
Two Choices
We have two choices: Kamala (, la) Harris is a liberal to moderate former prosecutor who was considered “tough on crime” in California, now being called Komrade Kamala by former president Trump who intentionally mispronounces her name in his typical degrading style. Kamala is pushing to bridge the differences between the Republicans and Dems, pitching a positive message versus Trump’s negative, demeaning, dehumanizing and even violent rhetoric. Her character is unquestioned… unlike the other guy. Unlike the other guy who is now reaching 40,000 confirmed false or misleading statements according to documentation compiled by the Washington Post. Even if you’re concerned that Kamala will spend big and run up the national debt (like Trump did with his so called middle income tax breaks which were in fact tax breaks for the very rich), she’s better than spoiled tuna sprinkled with grindings of glass.
The other candidate, former President Trump, is arrogant, self-absorbed, a narcissist, a documented serial liar, a serial abuser of women, remember “I grabbed them by the p___y” taped admission. He was ordered by a jury to pay writer E Jean Carroll $83 million dollars for sexual assault and defamation. Over 25 other women have come forth with similar accusations of sexual misconduct. He paid Stormy Daniels hundreds of thousands of dollars to cover up an affair he had soon after his son Barron was born, and even last week his lawyer offered Stormy money not to discuss the affair.
He has dyed hair, orange pancake makeup, he’s obese yet talks about his “perfect” health score, wears white knit shirts on the golf course which are less then flattering; speaking of playing golf, he plays more than any other President in history and is a serial cheater as at golf is documented in a book solely about his cheating.
He refuses to provide his health records unlike Kamala. He’s “gone off the rails” experts say. He threatens to sue any institution he attended if they release his grades although he consistently claims to be “top in his class”. He and his family were indicted for misusing funds generated for his Trump Foundation and pled guilty. The Courts ordered him to refund tuition paid for defrauding applicants to his business school. He has recently gone on record claiming if elected he will abolish the Education Department. Lately he rails against thousands of illegal immigrants, many “murderers and rapists” -adding “they are registering them to vote”. Trump’s cronies, many election deniers, have gotten on election boards with the intent to demand hand counting and other chicanery to upset and challenger the November 5 election.
Bad Deeds
We all know he invited his supporters to “come and fight” on January 6, 2020 stimulating the insurrection on the Nation’s Capitol and despite pleas from dozens of Republicans, refused to call off his people, telling them that vice president Pence was “a traitor”. Trump is a crony of Russia’s Putin continuing to this date, even described as having a “fascination of authoritarian leaders” by his Ambassador John Bolton. Kamala is a family person and happily married, Trump is not. He is on his third marriage and that is about to unravel. He apparently is loved by born-again Christians and Christian Nationalists yet to my knowledge has never been in a church, although he brazenly sells his own bibles (and $100,000 watches), despite being “a very wealthy man”, don’t forget “with a brilliant brain”.
Those boasts by Trump remind me of a quote I had on my law office desk during my career, supposedly an old Spanish proverb, “tell me that which a man boasts, and I will tell you that which he lacks”. There is a lot of lacking going on with that guy.
Trump unlawfully removed secret and top secret documents from the White House and refused to return them resulting in criminal charges being filed which he will lose. We all know he tried to interfere with Georgia’s 2020 Presidential election telling the Republican Registrar of Voters, “I just need 11,780 votes”.
Trump consistently brags about appointing three ultra conservative Justices to the Supreme Court who overturned Roe v. Wade. Hopefully that will come back to bite him. Unlike all former Presidents who vetted their Supreme Court justices through the American Bar Association, Trump solely used the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation list of right-wing judges for his appointees. Whatever happened to moderation? Trump’s favorite Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is a champion of conflicts of interest and nondisclosure while his wife was an active participant in trying to overturn the 2020 Presidential election. No conflict there,
Republicans Against Trump
More than 200 Bush, McCain and Romney and officials have endorsed Harris in an open letter, plus Bush, McCain (2016), Romney and Mike Pence themselves. Dozens of former Republican governors, members of Congress and Trump Administration officials oppose his reelection. Esteemed presidential historian Douglas Brinkley called Trump a “serial liar”. UAW President Shawn Fain said “Trump is a con artist”. Rex Tillerson, his former Secretary of State said Trump is a “f____ing moron”. John Bolton said Trump is “fundamentally ignorant, and he doesn’t really care about the facts and he is a laughing fool”. His defense secretary Robert Gates says he has “erratic behavior”. His former attorney general Bill Barr said Trump is “like a nine-year-old and a consummate narcissist”. His former defense secretary Mark Estee calls him “irresponsible”. His former chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said he “failed at being President. We don’t take an oath to be a wanna-be dictator”. Trump’s former communication director Anthony Scaranucci called Trump a “domestic terrorist.” Esteemed former CBS anchor Dan Rather called Trump, “a cheating, lying, racist, treasonous, fascist, and vile man.” General Mark Milley who worked with Trump said, “he’s fascist to the core.” Trump himself said “Lennon wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down and destroy all of today’s establishments.”
Next Week the really good dirt on Trump.
