Leslie backing Kranz for Placer supervisor

Sun staff report

Marque names continue to endorse candidates for Placer County’s District 5 seat.

On Monday, Tim Leslie, a retired state legislator who represented the Tahoe Basin, announced his endorsement of the reelection of Supervisor Bruce Kranz.

Leslie said in a statement that Kranz has taken the lead on directing the county’s response to protect against wildfires, introduced ordinances to keep properties clear of dead brush and pushed for the county’s acquisition of a sheriff’s helicopter that can also help fight fires.

In addition to Leslie, Kranz is supported by legislative leaders such as state senators Dave Cox, Sam Aanestad and Tom McClintock, former Rep. Doug Ose and Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa.

Kranz is being challenged by Bob Houston and Jennifer Montgomery. Houston has collected the endorsement of Assemblyman Ted Gaines, who now represents the area formerly covered by Leslie.

If none of the candidates win a majority of the vote, a run-off between the top two vote getters will be held.
