Letter to the Editor: A view into the future

Regardless of your political persuasion, it is difficult to honestly deny that self-centered greed, naive ignorance, and irresponsible apathy played key roles in this election. Since ideologues on any side aren’t famous for their long-range vision, here are a few questions to ask:

1. What happens when we run out of other people’s money? Our Government now borrows over forty cents of every dollar that it recklessly spends, and our ballooning National Debt is rapidly driving us into bankruptcy. At some point, ALL the handouts, welfare, bailouts, and vote buying will stop. What do you suppose will happen then?

2. What are you going to do when the government tax collectors, creditors, or gangs of “disadvantaged” thugs arrive to re-distribute your car, house, and other hard-earned assets? Is this what it is going to take to yank some people back into the real world?

3. Where will this path lead us? There are several possible options at this point, but we need to act now. Our nation could crumble into enclaves of folks with enough resources to protect themselves from anarchists, or we could try to restore the principles of honor, integrity, and patriotism that made the United States great. The future is up to all of us.

Reversing greed, ignorance and apathy will not be easy. Are there still enough people with the courage and commitment required to defend our freedom, and are you one of them?
