Letter to the Editor: Caltrans noise on I-80 at night is out of hand

This is regarding the noise from the Caltrans machines on Highway 80. I am sick and disabled person who needs my rest to be able to get up and go to work and am tired of listening to the machinery operated on Interstate 80 all night long; all I hear is pounding, beeping, more pounding, beeping, etc.

This continues through the entire night. What happened to not disturbing the peace after 10 p.m.? As a citizen if I was up making that noise all night long surely I would be arrested by now, so why is it OK for Caltrans to run its machinery all night? I am sure that I am not the only one affected by this disturbance.

It would be one thing if it was temporary but this has been going on now every summer for the past 10 years and#8212; at least it seems that long when you are in a such a state of exhaustion from the lack of sleep. There has to be a place to relocate this machinery where it will not disturb the residents who work, live and support this community. So please, I am begging you to help me find a solution for this noise problem. I will surely lose my mind from lack of sleep.

P.S. please donand#8217;t use the sleep during the day excuse as I do have to work during the day.
