Letter to the Editor: Carrying on the Obexer family tradition

I really enjoyed the article on Obexerand#8217;s Boat Company in last Fridayand#8217;s Sierra Sun. Some of my happiest memories as a youth in the 1940s were spent there, as close family friend Jim Goodhue managed the service station for Jake and our family spent lots of time on the Obexer beach.

At the same time, some of my saddest memories also concerned Obexerand#8217;s. Sarahand#8217;s mother, Penne, was one of my treasured employees at the Tahoe World. When her husband, Jake, was the victim of that tragic accident at the boat yard, it was a blow to the entire community. He would have been a worthy successor to the Obexerand#8217;s name.

On top of that, Penne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis shortly after Sarah was born. My last memory of the two of them was when Sarah was a young child. It was heartening to read that she is carrying on the family tradition.
