Letter to the Editor: Certain bears deserve to go

Dear editor, I like bears, but I like them in their own territory. I personally do not miss that Homewood bear at all. Less than a week before its death, I am sure it was that bear who came to all three doors of my house wanting to come in. It left when I yelled at it, but it came back at 2 in the morning and clawed holes in my screen before my yelling chased it off.

What really made me think this bear needed to go was that it was wandering through a neighborhood with deafening road construction going on by day and cars rattling over metal plates in the road at night. A bear that tolerates all that racket and still tries to get into local houses is far too habituated to people. Once bears learn they can get food in houses, they donand#8217;t unlearn it.
