Letter to the Editor: Gifts For Good and#8211; lend a helping hand

Iand#8217;m always amazed at what an incredible community we live in. Itand#8217;s quite different from Washington, D.C., where I lived for more than 40 years.

Why am I amazed? Because those who live here sincerely care for our beautiful lake, our mountains, our snow, our trails, but most of all our people!

Every year at this time, the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation reaches out to the community with our and#8220;Gifts For Goodand#8221; campaign in partnership with the Sierra Sun.

We mail Gifts For Good envelopes to many in our region, hoping a donation will be returned so we can help those struggling to put food on the table for their family, help those who are looking for work, help those who are trying to find an affordable place to live. You may very well know someone in exactly this situation, so and#8230; letand#8217;s lend a hand!

The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation has for many years taken a leadership role in assisting our residents in need. Wonand#8217;t you join us by donating $1, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or more? We know the economy has been daunting for many, so any amount will be appreciated. Should you wish more information on the Gifts For Good program, please call the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation at 530-587-1776.

Have a blessed holiday season and thanks for caring,

Patti Boxeth

Chair, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation board
