Letter to the Editor: Police need to follow the law as well

My name is Hudson Verbeck and I am 13 years old. I am writing to you today because of an issue I would like you to address in your newspaper.

This is not a complaint, but more of a silly irony. I would also like to make clear that I am very grateful for the many law enforcement officers in this town and I am not just pointing them out for the sake of being negative.

However, when I see a cop or highway patrol officer enforcing the speed limit or enforcing some other law like pulling someone over for not using their blinker, I am disappointed, because a moment later I see another officer (in uniform) a few blocks away not using his blinker and/or speeding, and he goes ticket free.

I think that officers should pay a little more attention to their driving habits because they are supposed to be the example for everyone. You can see how easy it is to get tickets when even our local officers are driving improperly.

Personally Iand#8217;d like to see fewer officers breaking the rules of the road, rather than citizens.
