Letter to the Editor: Pollard Station is a good fit for Truckee
Roger Fisherand#8217;s recent letter to the Sierra Sun (Friday, June 24) was an outdated backhand to the enormous amount of hard work that town staff and Pollard Station project managers have put in together. Both have put in many hours, over the course of years, to ensure this project is in accordance with town needs and specifications. Both parties have welcomed public input.
Pollard Station Project Manager Bill Fitch will be happy to meet with Mr. Fisher and the Stonewood Homeowners Association to discuss any and all questions.
Mr. Fisherand#8217;s assertions are simply outdated. For example, the proposed Lodge Complex is 40 percent smaller than the original plan to which Fisher refers. Again, the project manager and#8212; or town staff and#8212; can provide current information.
Mr. Fisherand#8217;s most insulting comment is more personal in nature: and#8220;Even the developer recognizes that a project of this scope and character is not a good fit for the proposed location.and#8221;
Actually, we believe this senior development is a beautiful fit for the location. Senior impacts on crime and traffic are minimal. Seniors have extremely beneficial impacts on communities: They buy, volunteer, vote, and participate. Their character is a terrific fit for the location.
Pollard Station offers Truckee new jobs and a healthy, vibrant environment for seniors. It offers Mr. Fisher outstanding neighbors. It is a shame he does not appear to want them in his neighborhood.
