Letter to the Editor: Show some compassion when plowing snow

Thank you for providing plow services to the Tahoe Donner community. On Thursday, I arrived at my four-plex home to find a 5-foot high and 8-foot wide berm in our communal driveway. I have lived in Truckee for 22 years, and I know that Truckee has had a significant snow event, yet I live on Zurich Place which only has driveways only on one side of the street. Could I suggest that the plow operators turn the blade away from the driveways on the up hill pass then toward the non-driveway side of the road when they make their downhill pass?

I called my plow service at 4:30 p.m. to see if they could remove the berm and all I received was a recording that they would be out in the morning. I was unable to access my living unit and my neighbors were unable to exit either, without a heart attack session of shoveling. This is a public safety issue.

Please have your plow operators show some compassion when we all are having a hard time getting around.
