Letter to the Editor: TDRPD and#8212; how to turn deflating into celebrating

TDRPD and#8212; listen to what the recent survey results and the homeowners of Truckee are saying to you. The most telling details, in my humble opinion, follow:

and#8220;Results indicated the top three features people liked in the bond measure were trails that connect neighborhoods with downtown, a completed Truckee River Legacy Trail and paved trails accessible for people with disabilities.and#8221;

People want trails, trails and paved trails. What part of this is unclear? They are not clamoring for an aquatic center or performing arts center at this time, so table those and perhaps move along with the November vote with the initiative to complete the trail system.

Figure out what the price tag is for this piece of the pie (unbundle the three improvements) and then take it to the voters. Whatand#8217;s wrong with having these improvements done in phases? Itand#8217;s certainly easier on the homeownerand#8217;s pocket book and, more importantly, itand#8217;s listening to what weand#8217;re asking for.

I was an absolute and#8220;noand#8221; on approving/funding all three improvements, but Iand#8217;m an absolute and#8220;yesand#8221; on finishing the Truckee River Legacy Trail. I have a feeling there are many more out there like me and#8230; perhaps even two thirds (or more).
