Letter to the Editor: Truckee’s open space makes it a vacation hot spot

Say you’re planning a California vacation … should you spend your time and money in Fairfield, Roseville, Rancho Cordova … or … Truckee?

All these cities are about the same size in square miles.

What makes Truckee such an obvious choice? I’d say: The low population density and the open space that preserves the fabulous vistas and the easy access to nature for recreation, sport or just plain relaxing.

As the economy recovers, let’s not screw things up! With all the proposed development projects that were languishing during the past years now showing signs of life again, let’s think hard and long about them! Especially the proposed Canyon Springs 284 acre plan for Eastern Truckee.

If someone wants to spend time in sprawling housing developments or shopping in strip malls and#8212; let them go to Fairfield, Roseville or Rancho Cordova.

Our values are different and we should keep our city looking different, too!
