Letter to the Editor: Use your brain – and bike paths

A considerable amount of money is spent on creating and maintaining bike paths in the Tahoe Basin, and there is no defensible reason for cyclists not to use them.

The greatest offenders are not the families, tourists, or daily commuters, but the Lance Armstrong wannabes who foolishly seem to think that matching multi-logo jerseys, stretch shorts and little plastic helmets somehow make them impervious to injuries in collisions with 2,500-pound vehicles.

After once cycling thousands of miles a year, I can assure you that they will not.

Bicyclists have two ends, and it would be wise if more of them used their thinking end. If bike paths are available, use them.
