Letter to the Editor: Vote for Greg Jellinek for airport board
I am writing this letter on behalf of Dr. Greg Jellinek who is probably well know to the North Tahoe area as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. I have known Dr. Jellinek for approximately thirty years as we trained at the same eastern hospitals, and have enjoyed a longtime friendship as members of the Alpine Meadows Doctor Ski Patrol.
I been in awe of Dr. Jellinek’s dedication as a skilled physician, a good public citizen, and a devout family man. I recall the years before he opened his practice in Truckee as a frequent commuter via his own airplane, flying from San Jose, CA to Truckee, both in the summer an winter, just to be involved in the mountain community. I have been the director of the doctor ski patrol at Alpine Meadows for many years and was delighted that someone of Dr. Jellinek’s caliber would join our patrol. Unsurprisingly, he has logged in an enormous number of volunteer days on our patrol, all the while helping injured skiers in need of his services. At times, this included attending to skiers with serious and life threatening injuries. He has had a substantial positive effect on our patrol.
I recently learned that Dr. Jellinek has decided to run for public office and is seeking to join the board of the Truckee Airport. I can’t think of any other private citizen who has so much to offer in reference to maturity, good judgment, and dedication than Dr. Jellinek. The board would be very fortunate to have him. His substantial skills and experience as a seasoned pilot and his dedication to being the best that he can be, regardless of the task, speaks well for my friend, Dr. Jellinek.
