Letter to the Editor: Vote ‘yes’ on Measure A

As a member of this wonderful community and as a parent of two children in the TTUSD school district, I wanted to speak up about Measure A and how important this measure is to our community.

First off, it is hard to imagine our schools without this extra funding. For the past 20 years, voters in our area have continuously supported this measure. As a result of our support, kids get to have music, PE, science, art, libraries, technology and Advanced Placement courses in our schools. In comparison, many public schools in California and in the US can no longer afford to provide students with a similar variety of courses no matter how much research tells us of their critical nature in youth development.

To me, Measure A should be called Measure LOVE, as it is really about our community and voters like you supporting our kids and showering them with love every day when they attend school. As a parent in this district for over 8 years, I’ve witnessed this love being shared in our schools time and time again thanks to Measure A. For a relatively small cost per household, we are giving our future generation exposure to subjects that improve their educational experience and better prepare them for their futures. Quite frankly, what better cause is there for us to support?

Hopefully we can let go of our politics and see how much the kids in our community need us to VOTE YES on March 8th for Measure Love, I mean Measure A.
