Letter to the Editor: We can trust Chief Sensley

Yes, I believe we can trust Chief Nick Sensley. Chief Sensley is a breath of fresh air for Truckee. It actually made me sick to my stomach to read Mr. Haimowitzand#8217;s letter. Officer Sensley is approachable, articulate, well-educated and experienced. He is a respected expert in human trafficking, tremendous youth advocate and family man.

As another perspective on Officer Authur Munoz, few years ago, my car was broken into on Christmas Eve and several items were stolen. Officer Munoz was the responding officer. He completed his report and advised me of a series of thefts in my and#8220;safeand#8221; neighborhood. He took the time to look around my property and ease the concerns of my children who were visibly upset. Several hours later, Officer Munoz knocked on my door and returned my well-stocked gym bag complete with Ipod and money the thief has missed. Officer Munoz was at all times very professional, helpful and nice.

To be clear, I have no connection to either of these men. They could not pick me out of a crowd. Noted incident aside, I am very impressed with their commitment to community, safety and service. On many mornings I happen to be behind Chief Sensley in the high school parking lot drop-off area. He routinely gets out of the car, opens the door for his daughter and caringly wishes her well in her day while handing her backpack to her. Itand#8217;s the small things, but from this and his other actions in the community, Chief Sensley obviously values and respects those around him. He is a man of high character. I am grateful to have both these men in our community.
