Library Loop: A look at space
In addition to regular programming such as book clubs and storytimes, your local libraries also hold larger events such as guest speakers, performers, and film screenings. One such upcoming event on Oct. 25 from 6-8 p.m. and sponsored by the Truckee Library is the screening of the PBS documentary, Ultimate Space Telescope, with guest host Tony Berendsen of Tahoe Star Tours.
The documentary is about the James Webb Space Telescope, which is considered the most complex machine ever launched into space. Following the 55-minute film, Berendsen, a professional outreach astronomer and star guide, will answer questions and then lead attendees outside to view Jupiter and Saturn. (weather permitting)
The event will take place at the Community Recreation Center Room No. 3 located at 10981 Truckee Way in Truckee. Registration is required. To secure your spot, call the Truckee Library at 530-582-7846.
