$5,000 donated toward Trout Creek Pocket Park

Staff report

Mountain Area Preservation recently received a $5,000 grant from the Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation for the Trout Creek Pocket Park project in Historic Downtown Truckee.

Funding will go toward construction and completion of the project located at the northeast corner of Bridge and Jibboom streets.

The park will provide the community with a public green gathering space, including vegetative restoration, improved water quality, ecosystem education, access to trail connectors and public art displays.

For the past eight years, MAP has received $222,000 in grant support for the project. Funds have been dedicated to the environmental site assessment, conceptual designs, planning, permitting and construction funding.

MAP, a nonprofit, is working on raising additional funds through community grants and individual donor opportunities.

The Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation serves as a catalyst for community enhancement by providing leadership and funding, which helps enrich the quality of life in the Truckee/North Lake Tahoe region through cultural, environmental, educational and charitable pursuits.
