TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe is honored to announce Jessica Cox will speak at the Club’s annual Kids First Fundraising breakfast on Saturday, May 10 at the Truckee Tahoe Airport.

Jessica Cox was born without arms, but she never allowed that to limit her dreams.

She has learned to live her life without the help of prosthetics, using only her feet to do the daily tasks that many of us take for granted, such as tying her shoes and brushing her hair.

Jessica chooses to not only live a normal life, she chooses to reach for extraordinary goals.

She earned a college degree, drives a car, scuba dives, holds a Taekwondo black belt and, in 2008, landed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first licensed pilot to fly only with her feet.

Jessica has banished the words “I can’t” from her vocabulary and travels the world inspiring others to do the same. She believes in combining creativity, desire, persistence and fearlessness. With them, nothing is impossible.

She shares her story of living in a “two-handed” world and encourages others to “Think outside the shoe.”

Jessica will speak to Club members and local youth who wish to attend at the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe on May 9 at 4:30 p.m. All kids and families are welcome to this free event.

On May 10, 10-11:30 a.m., Jessica will speak at the Club’s annual fundraising breakfast in Hanger Alpha 9 at the Truckee Tahoe Airport. This is a free event, but donations will be solicited.

Limited space is available, please RSVP by calling 530-546-4324 or emailing astoner@bgcnlt.org by May 5.

The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe serves more than 950 local youth annually with affordable and fun before-school, after-school and summer programs for 5- to 18-year-olds.
