TRUCKEE, Calif. – Those wanting to comment on the draft Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Canyon Springs residential neighborhood development near Glenshire will now have until March 6.

The original cutoff date was March 1 – now giving the public a total of 78 days to send in environmental analysis questions and concerns.

The initial CD version of the draft EIR distributed by the town did not include all the technical appendices, so a five-day extension was given to “ensure everyone had adequate review time,” said John McLaughlin, community development director for the town of Truckee.

According to the town’s website, seven public comments on the draft EIR have been submitted as of Tuesday afternoon.

“Most people submit their comments the last day or a few days before the end of the comment period,” said Denyelle Nishimori, senior planner for the town.

After March 6, a final EIR will be prepared, which responds to comments received on the environmental analysis and possibly includes revisions to the draft report.

A digital copy of the draft EIR can be accessed via the following shortened web link: http://bit.ly/WKFn7W – people can email comments to dnishimori@townoftruckee.com.
