Child Advocates of Nevada County gets $5K donation
March 12, 2015
Child Advocates of Nevada County has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Walton's Grizzly Lodge Summer Camp, through the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation for our Child Safety Puppeteers Program.
Denise Stein, camp owner says, "Walton's Grizzly Lodge Summer Camp has been a family tradition for 89 years. As a family we value how important it is to give children opportunities to become confident, successful and caring individuals."
This gift helps fund the unique and well regarded Child Safety Puppeteers program, which works directly with Nevada County schools and preschools to provide age appropriate presentations to preschool through fifth-grade children to teach personal safety, self-protection and abuse prevention skills.
High school aged volunteers learn puppet shows that are then presented to preschool and grade school children. These tried and true puppet shows educate kids on physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as how to successfully deal with bullying, peer pressure, and harassment.
CSP programs are presented free to Nevada County schools and preschools, and volunteers have been presenting shows to Nevada County's children for more than 20 years.
