Christian Science healing expert speaking in Truckee
Many might scoff at the notion that “health” is a right, believing it a material condition, hostage to chance, societal conditions, genetics, age and a host of other variables.
International speaker and spiritual healer Jon Benson says, “I’ve learned through personal experience that a clearer understanding of my relationship with God brings health to my life.”
With that in mind, Benson will present a free talk titled, “Your right to health,” on Friday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. at For Goodness Sake in downtown Truckee.
“This talk shows health to be everyone’s unvarying fundamental right as a child or expression of the Divine. It redefines health, equating it with true consciousness — thoughts originating in the divine Understanding,” says Benson. “Discerning how to claim and maintain other divine rights we have, showing how they are vital to claiming and maintaining our right to health, and looking at what makes prayer effective are other issues explored.”
Benson’s ideas highlight Jesus’ teachings, and borrow from a well-tested spiritual interpretation of his ministry, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy, a committed follower of Jesus and a prolific spiritual healer.
Benson has served in a variety of fields, including U.S. Army officer, university instructor of public speaking, New York-based actor and director in professional theater, and managing director of a nonprofit providing planning and management facilitation for governments and volunteer organizations in the developing world.
Assisting those in the developing world to find and implement solutions to problems, Benson eventually realized there would never be enough human solutions to bandage the world’s wounds.
Shortly after this, he felt impelled to take up the full-time practice of Christian Science healing.
Benson is also a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
The event is sponsored by the Christian Science Society of Truckee.
