Four fire agencies responded to a small fire at Pope Beach just west of South Lake Tahoe early Tuesday morning.

According to Cal Fire Capt. Chris Placke, the fire grew to 50 feet by 50 feet before it was extinguished.

“It was very well contained within the first five to 10 minutes of the first engine’s arrival,” Placke said after the fire was extinguished.

Placke said the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire was first reported at 7:30 a.m, according to Lisa Herron, spokesperson for the U.S Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. South Lake Tahoe Fire Department, Cal Fire, the U.S. Forest Service and Lake Valley Fire Protection District all responded.
