Drought-Relief Interfaith Prayer Service

Come as you are Friday, March 7, 5:15-6 p.m. with friends and neighbors to celebrate the gift of water; consider the impact of the drought on nature, community, and the economy at Tahoe and the Western U.S.; and pray for the blessing of rain and snow. Service will include prayers from many faith traditions, environmental perspectives, music, and traditional Paiute dances by the youth community troupe Mu Moomooatupu Nadapunekwae Tamme Meakwa.

Grief, Death, and Dying

The Sunday Forum is an open, drop-in gathering of adults and older teens, March 9 to April 13, 9-9:50 a.m., who meet to explore universal human questions from spiritual, historical, cultural, scientific, and personal perspectives. Facilitated by clergy and community members, the discussions engage people of all faiths and those with no religious ties. Draw on wisdom from reason, life experience, compassion, and respect for all. Probe your relationship to death — and be guided toward living in greater joy.

March 9, “Ashes to ashes,” So what?; March 16, What has death taught us?; March 23, What is the journey of grief?; March 30, How can we navigate the pain of grief?; April 6, Why think about our own death now?; April 13, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”, Dying gracefully.

Food, Glorious Food!

Think Lent is all about “giving up” food? In this six-week series Wednesday Lenten Series, March 12 to April 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m., discuss, delight in and taste God’s great gift of food — examining our relationship to it as individuals and a spiritual community. Drop in when you can, with friends and family. Each evening will include a dinner together, reflection on scripture, and discussion. What better way to prepare together for the Lord’s Supper on Maundy Thursday?

March 12, Fasting and Feasting (Potluck: bring a food you love to prepare/share and food magazines); March 19, Healthy, Holy Eating (We’ll cook dinner together!); March 26, Sharing Our Food (Potluck); April 2, Welcome to the Table (Potluck); April 9, The Power of Bread and Wine (Potluck; please include a favorite kind of bread); April 16, Holy Eucharist (Dinner provided)
