Give the gift of sight in Truckee Tahoe

Staff report

Donate glasses to make this October a frightfully successful Sight Night.

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. – Halloween means ghost and ghouls, trick-or-treating and lots of sweets. But the spirit of the season can also mean improved vision for those in need.

Once again, the Gogain Group of Dickson Realty, in cooperation with One Sight and Lions Clubs International, will participate in this year's Sight Night. Sight Night is an international effort to provide used eyewear to needy people across the globe. Looking for an easy way to participate in a global act of kindness this Halloween? This may be your answer.

Help achieve this worthwhile goal by donating your used prescription eyeglasses and prescription or non-prescription sunglasses. Your eyewear, trendy or not, could help someone in need to see the world more clearly. The Gogain Group will accept donations throughout October and has set up these drop-off locations in Tahoe Donner, Truckee, Squaw Valley and Kings Beach:

Dickson Realty, 11836 Donner Pass Road (at the corner of Northwoods and Donner Pass Road); Dickson Realty Donner Lake, 15947 South Shore Drive (across from West End Beach); Tahoe Donner's Trout Creek Recreation Center, 12790 Northwoods Blvd.; Alice's Mountain Market, The Village in Squaw Valley; Placer County Library, 301 Secline St., Kings Beach, Sierra Sun, 10775 Pioneer Trail, Ste. 101, Pioneer Center.

"This year Sight Night proudly includes a new drop-off location, the Sierra Sun. For over eight years the Sierra Sun has encouraged and donated to the Sight Night cause," said Leon Gogain. "Thank you for your support. And thank you to all of you for joining us in this act of kindness."
