Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) received $500 in funds from Northstar California Resort. The Great Skate, an inaugural SELS fundraising event, was hosted at the resort's skate rink in The Village at Northstar.

The interactive roller skate benefit offered Truckee Tahoe Unified School District informational booths, summer games, raffle prizes, music and interactive activities alongside the rink. Proceeds were contributed directly to SELS, which offers children kindergarten through eighth grade interactive curricula, leadership and personal growth opportunities.

"SELS is so appreciative of Northstar's partnership," said David Manahan, director of Sierra Expeditionary Learning School. "The Great Skate was a fun way to further the SELS mission of offering kids unique learning opportunities and experiences, and it's great to have the resort's support."

Children of all ages, parents, TTUSD students and Northstar guests skated during the charter school's fundraiser.

"It was a great way for Northstar to kick off summer," said Bill Rock, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Northstar California Resort. "We are thrilled to be able to support our community through the resort's summer events."
