Incline businesses are working together to put on a toy drive this fall to ensure local children have a bright holiday season.

The inaugural Incline Community Toy Drive will run Nov. 9 through Dec. 9. Residents can donate unwrapped toys at one of several barrel locations throughout town, including Incline Village Visitor Center, IV Coffee Lab, Chase International, Crosby’s, Village Toys, Bar Bar Bar, Redemption Sports, Rookies, Lake Tahoe Lockshop, North Lake Tahoe Bonanza and the Recreation Center, with more to come.

The Incline Community Business Association and Business Networks International are sponsoring the drive; volunteers expect to have barrels out by this weekend, said Mike Young, president of ICBA.

Village Toys will offer 20 percent off purchases for the toy drive and will serve free ice cream on Dec. 6, the night of the annual Christmas Tree Village chamber mixer.

“Village Toys will work with any family, person or organization in offering a discount for all purchases that are going to families in need,” said Blake Goldenberg, the business’s co-owner.

As previously reported, a number of factors led to the cancellation of this year’s Toys For Tots distribution, which would have been the community’s 35th.

Residents should contact ICBA at contact@visitinclinevillage.com if they know of a local family in need this holiday season. To learn more about the drive, visit the ICBA website at http://www.visitinclinevillage.com.
