INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The Incline Village Crystal Bay Republican Women’s club is celebrating its golden anniversary.

Fifty years ago, Joyce Anderson Bock and the late Joy Plunkett attended a National Federation of Republican Women Convention in Washington, D.C.

One of the featured speakers was the late Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois. Both women were inspired by his remarks and the 1964 presidential candidate, Barry Goldwater.

With 10 like-minded women, including Barbara Jensen, the other sole remaining member with Joyce Anderson Bock, the Incline Village/Crystal Bay Republican Women were chartered in June 1965.

The club has grown over the years to 95 regular members and 25 associate members. The club’s goals are to inform the public through political education and activity; elect Republican candidates; support veteran’s needs and activities; as well as provide an annual scholarship to an Incline High School graduate.

This year the club renamed their scholarship the Maryanne B. Ingemanson Memorial Scholarship in honor of our late member.

Maryanne personified the values of our party by fighting for property tax equity in our area.

The golden anniversary celebration will be held at The Chateau on Wednesday, July 14, at 5 p.m. The evening will include keynote speaker, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, and honor all past club presidents.

Past presidents will be traveling to Incline Village from near and far to be part of this celebration. The event tickets are $70 each and include dinner with a choice of entrée, a champagne toast and birthday cake for dessert.

Music will be provided by Tim Callicrate. Highlights of the club’s history and a video photo presentation will be featured throughout the evening. The club’s president, Carol Del Carlo, will be mistress of ceremonies.

The grand raffle prize is a red wheelbarrow filled with 50 bottles of fine wine. Tickets are available for $20 each from Celine Nugget at celine@inclinetahoehomes.com or 775-815-5587 and Sandra Mellor at sandramellor@gmail.com or 775-832-8086.

Raffle ticket holders do not need to be present to win the wheelbarrow of wine. There will be additional “your choice” prizes available at the event.
