Lake Tahoe local writes children’s adventure series
August 7, 2014
Lake Tahoe native Jimetta Mayne published her first children's book through Red Arrow Media, released on July 29.
Mayne's book, "What If?" begins the "Adventures with Grandma Metta" series. "What If?" invites you on an unforgettable journey deep into the Friendly Woods. Pack a yummy picnic, gather wild berries, swim in the clear cold creek, and revel in the adventures waiting behind each bend in the trail.
Prepare to dream, imagine, and live fearlessly. Learn the power of positive thinking and making good choices. You will be back again and again for more time with the lovely Grandma in the cozy cabin whose door is always open to whatever adventure the day brings.
Beautifully illustrated by local artist Heidi Reeves, "What If?" allows children to explore their imaginations and create portions of the story themselves. The book is an interactive story with "Ask the Imagination" questions requiring more than "yes or no" answers to develop children into life-long thinkers.
Jimetta will introduce the book at three book signings in August: Tahoe House in Tahoe City on Monday, Aug. 11, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.; IV Coffee Lab in Incline Village on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 7 a.m.-4 p.m.; and New Moon in Truckee, Aug. 21, 8 a.m.- 8 p.m.
She will also be having a book reading at Kings Beach Library, Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. for small children and 11 a.m. for ages 5-9.
