Letter to the Editor: Doesn’t Caltrans have anything better to do?

Maybe if Caltrans can’t find anything more truly constructive for its road crews to do to keep busy during snow lulls than every single evening kicking up and dumping a swirling thick cloud of dirt and dust on everyone and everything in downtown, it should just pay its crews to do absolutely nothing.

Let ’em rest up for when their services are of a real value. It would do far more good, certainly for the public health … and aesthetics, if not commerce.

This is what I thought at 8 p.m. on a Friday night, during peak pedestrian traffic among the various lodgings, restaurants, bars and stores as a street sweeper crawled through downtown arrogantly and offensively, dumping a choking cloud of filth on everyone and every thing.

Wouldn’t you just love to hear the load of green wash that they’re likely using as part of the rationale to justify something so pointless, wrong and filthy?
