Letter to the Editor: Truckee’s current leash laws are right on point
I read the letter from Nick De Fiori concerning his opinion about the Truckee leash laws. Yet another example of urban thinking.
Urbanites move to this town for its rural characteristics while wanting their city laws in which they are familiar. This town has already reviewed and confirmed policy to conform to town desires. Please don’t move to a town only to bring inapplicable urban laws with you. Enjoy the freedoms that you moved here for.
Most places in Truckee are low traffic areas where owners are fully aware of traffic, other home owners and the demeanor of their pets. A dog under the full voice control of the owner is a non event.
Mr. De Fiori’s opinion that he recommends only leash control is another example of over-regulation. While dogs roaming at large are a violation, dogs walked under voice command are not a problem.
His suggestion of a lawsuit is another example of why we live here in the mountains. Let’s not find solutions where there are no problems.
