Lib Loop: Libraries ride wave of technological advances

Lib Loop

The Truckee Library has been operating on Levon Avenue for four decades. On Tuesday, a 40th birthday celebration was held for the longstanding library.

We commonly hear, "Oh, how quaint your library is."

While this is very true, it's merely an idyllic façade for the actual powerhouse of knowledge a library is. Yes, we do appear to be a calm refuge, but libraries are churning with cutting-edge technologies and ideas.

We have Wi-Fi, tablets, laptops, and more. We offer computer classes, maker spaces, online live tutors, language software, and streaming music.

We're forging relationships, building a literate society, and the riding the wave of technological advances. We may appear "quaint," but there's a technological lion behind these horned rimmed glasses.
