INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Another public meeting will be held next week to discuss the topic of medical marijuana in light of Incline Village’s forthcoming dispensary.

Incline Village Library is hosting the free meeting as part of its new Tahoe Talks series, which aims to stimulate community discussion on hot-button topics.

Guest experts scheduled to speak at the medical marijuana forum include Incline Village resident Andrew Whyman, a board certified psychiatrist, and River Coyote, director for Tahoe Truckee Future Without Drug Dependence.

Whyman said he plans to discuss the “evolving story of legalizing medical marijuana.” Meanwhile, Coyote said she will touch upon the risk factors of youth drug use and offer prevention suggestions.

Each will give a short presentation, but the majority of the forum will be devoted to community discussion, said Pam Rasmussen, Incline Village Library branch manager.

“My hope is that people walk away with more information than when they came in,” she said. “I would like them to have an expanded view on the topic to make a better informed decision on it.”

Medical marijuana has been a hot topic of late, as NuLeaf plans to open a dispensary some time this spring at 877 Tahoe Blvd. in Incline.

The April 12 forum is anticipated to run no longer than an hour and a half and is open to the general public. Reservations are not needed.

Tahoe Talks is held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in Incline Village Library. Upcoming topics include immigration in May and gun control in June.
