TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Jake’s on the Lake in Tahoe City hosted a fundraiser on Sunday, Dec. 6, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Tahoe City’s nonprofit cross-country ski area.

Since launching a fundraising campaign in May, Tahoe Cross Country has raised $146,075 from local and out-of-state donors, plus the additional $2,000 raised at Sunday’s event, far exceeding its original goal of $80,000.

More than 150 members of the community showed up to support the fundraiser at Jake’s, which featured a dinner buffet, drink specials, and raffle tickets sold by the Tahoe Cross Country Junior Development Team.

Valli Murnane, manager of the ski area, showed her appreciation for the community’s support by announcing the launch of the Kevin Murnane Scholarship, in honor of her late husband.

Visit tahoexc.org to learn more about the cross-country area, known by locals as Tahoe XC.
