Truckee Community Christmas drives
The Truckee Community Christmas senior program and toy, food and coat drives are all currently underway. Collection bins can be found all over town for toy donations.
Coats can be donated at Church of the Mountains in downtown Truckee, Mountain Hardware, Starbucks and Tahoe Forest Church on Hirschdale Road. Food items are being collected at local grocery stores. Recommended food lists can be found at the collection barrels placed near the front of your favorite grocery store.
Look for the red, square Truckee Community Christmas logo, which marks items that directly go to local families in need. To make an online donation, find out where collection bins are located, how to volunteer and more, go to TruckeeCommunityChristmas.com. For questions, call 530-587-2757.
Discount ski tickets to benefit Tahoe SAFE Alliance
Tahoe SAFE Alliance announced this week the sale of $111 lift tickets valid at any domestic Vail Resorts-operated resort, including Northstar, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Vail, Breckenridge, Park City and more.
Tickets are valid any day from now until the end of the 2016-2017 ski season. This offers ski lovers up to a 30% savings over same-day lift tickets at these popular ski destinations. These tickets have no blackout dates or restrictions.
Vail Resorts and Northstar, through an EpicPromise grant, donated lift tickets to support the mission of Tahoe SAFE Alliance. Money raised will support the Children’s Program and positively affect child survivors of abuse. Tahoe SAFE Alliance hopes that community members will choose to purchase their lift tickets from them and ski for healthy families. Every $111 raised can provide 3 hours of counseling to one child. For tickets, go to http://www.tahoesafealliance.org or call 775-298-0010.
