North Tahoe-Truckee Toys for Tots collections under way

Staff report

TAHOE CITY, Calif. — Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate at 950 North Lake Blvd., No. 12C, in Tahoe City is this year’s Toys for Tots headquarters, and one of many drop-off sites.

Collections began Nov. 15 and run through Dec. 19. Sites will collect donations of new and unwrapped toys to benefit thousands of children in need in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities.

All toys collected will be donated locally to children in need through the Truckee Community Christmas program, and in the North Tahoe area by Elaine Durazo, local coordinator/organizer of the Toys for Tots program, and Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens.

“The success of this campaign could not be achieved without the support and efforts of the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate team, Truckee Community Christmas and the many wonderful participating businesses,” Durazo said.

Last year, Toys for Tots provided more than 3,500 toys to more than 425 local families, representing more than 890 local children, Durazo said.

“We look forward to continuing to bring each child a little Christmas and hope again this holiday season,” Durazo said.

Applications to receive toys can be picked up at the Truckee Family Resource Center, the Tahoe City Library, the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe office, and the North Tahoe Family Resource Center in Kings Beach.

Application deadline is Dec. 11. The last day for toy collection is Dec. 19.

On the North Shore, toy distribution will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at The North Tahoe Events Center at 8318 North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach.
