Northstar donates more than $65,000 to nonprofits in March

Staff report

Northstar California awarded more than $65,000 in contributions to regional nonprofits in March via the Northstar and Vail Resorts EpicPromise program.

“This month’s events have been great for bringing our community’s leaders together in a fun variety of ways,” said Beth Howard, vice president and general manager of Northstar. “We are so appreciative of what our nonprofit partners provide our community, and we’re thrilled to offer ongoing support.”

Contributions totaled $38,000 at the second annual Northstar EpicPromise Ski Challenge held March 27, during which teams from Arts For the Schools, Excellence in Education, Girls on the Run-Sierra, Truckee Trails Foundation, Bay Area Discovery Museum, Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, Sugar Pine Foundation, Tahoe Fund, Truckee Donner Land Trust, and Tahoe Institute for Natural Science enjoyed a day of skiing combined with eight on-mountain challenges (including an EpicMix photo contest, a bloody Mary recipe competition and an obstacle course race).

Tahoe Fund also received $25,000 via the Green Bucks program in March, through which guests are invited to donate $1 when making purchases at NorthstarCalifornia.com.

Lastly, in its first annual EpicPromise Instagram competition, Northstar invited foundation partners to post photos and videos to Instagram which best depicted scenes of “Having Fun While Doing Good.”

Arts For the Schools, S.O.S. Outreach, and High Fives Foundation were all winners for a total prize purse of $2,500.
