Northstar California’s mountain bike park and Heavenly Mountain Resort’s Gondola will be among the summer recreation offerings this Memorial Day weekend.

Northstar will offer summit-to-base mountain bike descents via the Village Express Quad and the Zephyr Express six-passenger chair starting Friday.

The lift-served mountain bike access will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through June 22.

Daily riding at the mountain bike park begins June 26, with Friday evening riding extended to 7 p.m., according to the resort.

Full-day lift tickets for the mountain bike park are $52 for adults and $33 for children ages 9-12.

“The entire mountain changes with the seasons here at Northstar,” Andy Buckley, director of skier services, said in a statement. “It’s fun to see the transformation of the atmosphere when families trade in the skis and snow for bikes and dirt, smiling ear-to-ear after a day of adventure.”

At the South Shore, Heavenly will operate its gondola from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday through Monday.

The gondola will offer sightseeing via the gondola and the mid-station observation deck, with limited hiking trails and dining options at Tamarack Lodge, Café Blue and Heavenly Donuts, according to the resort.

“Memorial Day Weekend is the first look into what the summer season has in store,” Pete Sonntag, vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly, said in a statement. “The Heavenly Gondola and observation deck have stunning views of Lake Tahoe and exploring the upper mountain is an experience that is unique in the region.

“The opening of the Hot Shot Zip Line on June 12 will be the next exciting step in elevating this experience for our summer guests.”

Gondola tickets prices for the weekend are $40 for adults, $20 for children and $33 for teens and seniors.

Heavenly will open for full seven-day-a-week summer operations Friday, June 12. The Blue Streak Zip Line, Black Bear Ropes Course and summer tubing are set to open full-time on June 26. Kirkwood Mountain Resort’s mountain bike park is scheduled to open July 3.
