Prescribed burns could start this weekend in Incline

Staff report

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District could begin prescribed fire burning in the areas of Wood Creek, Third Creek and Second Creek drainages as early as this weekend, weather permitting.

These burns will continue throughout the next several weeks as long as conditions are favorable, the fire district announced Wednesday.

“Smoke resulting from the understory burns will affect the surrounding areas for approximately 24 hours,” officials said. “People ho are smoke sensitive are advised to please stay inside and close their windows and doors as much as possible until the smoke dissipates.”

For information, or to be added to the district’s smoke sensitive notification list, call the district at 775-831-0351, ext. 0, or visit http://www.nltfpd.net.
