Sunshine Letter | Thank you Northstar!
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Thank you Northstar!
Recently the Tahoe Fund competed against eleven other nonprofits in the first (and I certainly hope inaugural) Northstar Challenge for a $10,000 grant for our organization. Under bright blue skies, the teams skied around the mountain learning about Northstar’s Habitat Management Plan before competing in timed races down the Epic Mix run.
Thanks to the slalom skills of our team, made up of our major donors and board members, we were able to win the $10,000 grant.
At the end of the day, Northstar awarded in total over $20,000 in grants to every nonprofit that participated, making everyone a winner. For this I want to thank Northstar.
But I would also like to thank Northstar for creating an event that allowed nonprofits to spend the day with the very people who keep us going. Too often we get stuck with our heads down, working hard to solve the challenges of our community.
I know I am not alone when I say thank you for creating an event that gave us the opportunity to spend quality time with our dedicated board members and donors who give us the support we need to fulfill our missions.
It was a brilliant way for Northstar to share their environmental plans with the Tahoe community of nonprofits and our supporters. And it was a brilliant way to spend a day thanking those who give us the support we need to successfully service our local community.
Here’s hoping we get the opportunity to defend our title at the 2nd annual Northstar Challenge!
