Tahoe recipe: Lori Farragher’s flat football appetizer

If your team loses, this appetizer is the best consolation prize.

OK Lori, you know who you are. Why do I know you? Because your sister Kitty has been attending the Monday Night football gatherings at my house and, because you are Bostonians, every time the Patriots do something good or bad, Kitty’s phone rings.

Her ringtone for you? The NFL theme song. The good news is, I did get a great recipe. The bad news is, it does resemble a deflated football. You, Lori, really need to think about this.

The Flat (Oh, excuse me — slightly deflated) Appetizer

Ingredients:

One flat Artisan bread, often used for pizza, available at your local grocer

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 large onions (Go for sweet. Think Tom Brady.) Diced very small. (Do not think about him then.)

1 stick unsalted butter.

1 tbls. mayonnaise

1 cup Gorgonzola cheese, grated. (Yeah. Like Gisele ever eats this before kissing Tom Brady.)

4 sprigs chopped Rosemary

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Caramelize your onions with the butter and garlic This process takes about 30 minutes. Do it while you are watching your team. Do not be distracted. They are onions. This is butter. This is garlic. Again, hello! Like Gisele would kiss him Well. Duh. I would. I bet Lori would. Bring on the garlic with or without your Big Super Bowl ring.

At this point remove the onions and garlic from the heat. Take your mayonnaise and spread it on your bread. Then top with your onions, the cheese and the Rosemary.

Bake for ten minutes.
