Tahoe Ten: MARTyPARTy show, Santa Claus in Tahoma highlight weekend

TAHOE-TRUCKEE, Calif. — Here are the Sierra Sun-North Lake Tahoe Bonanza’s picks for the Top 10 events to check out this weekend:
1. MARTyPARTy at Crystal Bay Casino
MARTyPARTy, an electronic music composer, producer and performer, brings his rich melodic layering — from slowed down grooves to high-energy dance music — to the North Shore this Friday.

2. Battlehooch at Moody’s
Battlehooch, a San Francisco-based rock group that infuses R&B, psychedelia, and modern pop, will perform back-to-back free shows in downtown Truckee this weekend.

3. Backcountry Ball 2015 at Sugar Bowl
Brush up on your backcountry knowledge in a festive atmosphere at the Sierra Avalanche Center’s annual Backcountry Ball. The event includes dinner, a silent auction, a cash bar and music, and a slide show presentation by Kevin Quinn from Points North Heli-Adventures.

4. Paul Covarelli at Bar of America
Truckee’s own Paul Covarelli, an accomplished veteran guitarist who excels in a bevy of music styles, will play consecutive free shows at Bar of America this weekend.

5. Festive Fridays in downtown Truckee
Come out and enjoy all that Historic Downtown Truckee has to offer for the first Festive Friday, which runs from 4-6 p.m. and will feature free parking. Shops will be open late and offering specials for the season, restaurants are waiting to tempt your taste buds, and the holiday lights are a perfect setting to get you in the holiday spirit.

6. Santa Landing in Tahoma Saturday
Santa Claus is coming to Lake Tahoe’s West Shore for a program that will include Christmas caroling and free hot cocoa, cider and cookies. Santa will arrive by fire truck with presents for the children. All ages welcome.

7. SNC Tahoe Choir Holiday Concert
John Rutter’s “Gloria,” alternating soaring vocals with contemporary harmonies, will highlight the annual choir concert, which will also feature brass, percussion, keyboard and handbell performances.

8. Jelly Bread at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe
Tahoe area favorites Jelly Bread, a Reno-based outfit identified as roots-rook meeting funk and soul, will perform a free show Friday on the South Shore.

9. Fleetwood Mask at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe

10. Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience
