Alpine Meadows Easter celebrations to include egg hunt, Beacon & Eggs event

Easter means it is hunting season at Alpine Meadows with the All-Mountain Easter Egg Hunt, the Kids’ Egg Hunt or the Annual Beacon & Eggs Search Contest.

Make room in that Easter basket to fit a season pass to Alpine Meadows. Guests will have a chance to comb the mountain for a golden egg containing a Bronze Season Pass during the free, All-Mountain Adult Easter Egg Hunt. Hundreds of eggs will be hidden, but only one will be gold. This all-day hunt will commence when the lifts start moving at 9 a.m. All clues will be given out through Alpine’s Twitter account @skialpine.

Ski school will host the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt with plenty of Easter candy for all. Children 7 and under can join the hunt Sunday, March 31, at 10:15 a.m. at the Kids Camp Magic Carpet. For children ages 8 -13, the egg hunt takes place at 10:15 a.m. at the Magic Carpet located off the Subway Chair.

The Annual Beacon & Eggs Beacon Search Contest combines an Easter egg hunt with an avalanche beacon search practice session. Organized by Alpine’s ski patrol the event takes place on Easter Sunday, March 31. A fun, free (with season pass or purchase of lift ticket) event for all ages raises avalanche awareness. Avalanche beacons are buried in a one-acre area at Alpine Meadows. Competitors proceed to the buried treasure using their beacons in “search” mode. Competitors work individually or in teams (up to four people) to recover the beacons. Competitors redeem a found beacon for prizes from sponsors like Black Diamond, Vans, The Sports Exchange, K2, Cosmo’s Custom Footwerks, Oakley, Mountain Hardware, Alpenglow and The Backcountry, among others.

Free registration is at the Beacon & Eggs tent near the top of Subway Chair Lift (next to the base lodge), 9-11 a.m. The Le Mans-style start is at noon. Competitors must provide their own beacons, probes, and shovels. Call 530-581-8238 or visit http://www.SkiAlpine.com for information.
