1. ‘True Squallywood legend’ | Tahoe photographer beginning road to recovery after spinal cord injury

This heartwarming story talked of Lake Tahoe photographer and well-known Squaw Valley local Jason Abraham’s scary ski accident, which damaged his spinal cord and broke sections of vertebrae.

Despite the severity of the injuries, he has a positive outlook on life, and several people in the community are rallying with both money and support to help him and his family during this tough time.

2. Woman, 61, suspected of embezzling $850,000 from Lake Tahoe business

A 61-year-old Carnelian Bay woman was arrested Thursday, April 16, on suspicion of various embezzlement charges after authorities say she stole more than $850,000 from an Incline Village business over a seven-year period. Nevada authorities believe there may be more victims as well.

The most recent set of North Lake Tahoe crime logs included several interesting entries, including the following for March 10: “At 5:15 p.m. on the 7600 Block of Highlands View in Truckee, report was taken for mutual battery between roommates. Male and female roommates started a fight over food and one accused the other of defecating in the bathtub.”

5. Tahoe ski resorts Squaw, Alpine reach deal to build connecting gondola
