Truckee boy, 8, air-lifted to hospital after being hit by car

Staff report

TRUCKEE, Calif. — An 8-year-old Truckee boy was air-lifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno on Sunday with non-life threatening injuries after he was involved in a vehicle collision, officials said.

The boy was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle on a roadway in the Glenshire subdivision in eastern Truckee, according to the Truckee Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers and Truckee Fire Protection District medical personnel found the boy alert and conscious. As a precaution, due to the nature of the collision, the child was flown by Care Flight helicopter to Renown.

The investigation into the cause is ongoing, according to TPD, which has concluded that speed and alcohol were not factors.
