Truckee.com takes ADDY Awards web campaign Best of Show

Special to the Sun

TRUCKEE, Calif. — The Truckee.com digital campaign, including the redesigned Truckee.com and Internet ads promoting Truckee as a destination took a Gold Award and Best of Show in the Web category at the Reno ADDY Awards on March 1.

“This was a great campaign; banner ads that made you want to click and a website that made you want to keep exploring. Most of all, the complete package made me want to visit the Truckee area. In a market with a lot of great tourism ads these stood out,” said ADDY judge Jim Mathis.

The website and Internet ads were designed by CLM Design in Reno, Nev., led by owner Gail Letcher. “We have always been proud of the work we do for Truckee and enjoy working with Lynn Saunders and her staff at the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce,” said Letcher. “Truckee has such a cool vibe and is such an awesome place – it is easy to get creative when designing campaigns to promote Truckee.”

The Internet banner ads were placed on TripAdvisor.com, Go-California.com, and in an Etarget stand-alone e-mail. The Net campaign was developed and placed by EXL Media.

The Truckee.com website also took a Gold Award in Websites Consumer category. Both the Digital Campaign and the Website will move on to regional competitions.

The ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, recognizing and rewarding creative excellence in the art of advertising. Every year approximately 60,000 entries are submitted in local ADDY competitions. Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local ADDY Awards is the first of a three-tiered competition. Local winners go on to compete against other winners within their regions in one of 14 District competitions. District winners are then forwarded to the National ADDY Awards competition.

The redesigned Truckee.com website launched in October and is dedicated to tourism promotion. At the same time, a new website was created for the The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce promotes Truckee as a destination through funding provided by the Town of Truckee for marketing programs, and visitor services for the management and operation of the California Welcome Center in the historic train depot in downtown Truckee.
