Truckee law enforcement, Save Mart to offer free car seat inspections
TRUCKEE Calif. — Officers with the Truckee branch of the California Highway Patrol will partner with Truckee Police and the town’s Save Mart store to host a car seat check-up event.
It takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the store at 11399 Deerfield Drive. Anyone in the Truckee/Tahoe area is invited to attend.
CHP and Truckee Police officers and store employees will inspect car seat installations, and will install car seats for expecting and experienced parents for free.
Kids can also meet the CHP mascot, Chipper, at the event.
“The California Highway Patrol has always been vigilant in campaign for occupant safety,” said CHP Capt. Timothy Malone. “Nowhere is that more obvious than in the area of child restraint. Through programs and events like this, the CHP here in Truckee is continuing its pledge to make the roads in the Tahoe area safer than ever, even for the smallest passenger.”
California law requires children to be properly secured in a child passenger safety restraint until they are at least 8 years old, or until they are at least 4 feet 9 inches in height.
