Truckee will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday in downtown Truckee. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m at Victory Plaza, on the corner of Spring Street and Donner Pass Road.

This year the ceremony will feature special guest speaker Dennis L. Schlumpf, a former first class Seabee, with music from the Mountain Belles. Immediately following the ceremony the Truckee Veteran’s Hall will host a lunch reception for veterans and their families at 10214 High St.

The winners of Truckee’s Veterans Day art contest will also be announced at the ceremony and the art work displayed for the public. The contest called for artists from all ages to create pieces that fit the theme “A Grateful Nation: United by the Legacy of Our Veterans.”
