Truckee’s Riverside Studios moving to new location

Om Friday, April 24, Truckee’s Riverside Studios will open its doors in a new space with a fresh look.

The business, which began in 2002, is owned and operated by five artists and will continue to provide a platform for more than 30 other local artists.

“I used to peddle my pottery from the trunk of my Toyota in the Cottonwood Restaurant parking lot while waiting tables,” said Alanna Hughes, co-owner and potter at Riverside Studios. “Without a place to sell and a venue to sustain my craft, I thought I had better change my attitude about my art and my commitment to it. Riverside Studios was then formed, and years later, the starving artist became a cliche.”

The work of Danae Anderson, a local artist whose work is shown internationally, is among art regularly featured at Riverside Studios.

When asked about Riverside Studios, she said she feels “in love” with her relationship to the shop, and that it is a “treat to be a part of Riverside’s amazing world of community and artists.”

Located in historic downtown Truckee, Riverside Studios is moving a few doors down to the old Walker’s Toggery location at 10076 Donner Pass Road.

A grand opening celebration will take pace from 5-8 p.m. Live usic, appetizers and refreshments will be provided. Visit riversideartstudios.com to learn more.
